South East Animal Rescue is a non-profit, voluntary charity established by Jackie Polson and the beloved late Jean Checkley. The charity is run by Peter Myers and Jackie who are committed to continuing Jean’s invaluable work in the protection, rescuing and re-homing of abandoned, neglected and abused animals. We cater for the needs and welfare of pets and other animals in the South East of Ireland (Wexford, Carlow, Wicklow, Waterford, Kilkenny and Dublin).
Our aim is to support and promote animal welfare across the region. We place a very high emphasis on promoting better care and understanding of animals, in particular spaying and neutering to help control the growing population of strays. All animals that we re-home are vaccinated and worm/flea treated, all dogs are micro-chipped and all adult animals are spayed/neutered.
We have a strict no-kill policy. We do not have a shelter; all animals are placed in a network of temporary foster homes until a new happy, loving forever home is found.
We are constantly looking for volunteers to help with fostering, transportation, home-checks, assisting in the charity shop, and other duties related to the welfare of our animals. Please see our volunteer section for further details on how to volunteer.
As we are a not for profit charity our people are 100% voluntary and we rely on the donations from the public to continue with our work to help animals. We are always in need of financial donations or donations in kind such as pet food, worm and flea treatments, or books, clothes, jewellery, and other bric-a-brac items for our charity shop. Please see our donate section for further details on how to donate.
If you are in need of advice on obtaining a family pet, or have any issues or concerns about the treatment of animals please get in touch with us today via our contact section.
